A Garden with a View

This particular property, situated on a hill, originally had no garden views. However, when the neighbours removed several large trees, the stunning vistas of the Chiltern Hills were revealed, inspiring a complete transformation.

The Client Brief

The existing garden featured a raised pine deck in desperate need of replacement, a small lawn, and a modest patio with a pergola. Discontented with the space, the client commissioned us for a complete redesign. Their brief was to create a vibrant garden with colourful planting, raised herb beds, and a stylish new deck terrace.

Designing Gardens on a Budget

Every project comes with a budget—what we prefer to call “an investment.” We begin with a detailed design and materials specification to provide an accurate quotation and demonstrate what can be achieved within the set parameters.

A budget doesn’t mean sacrificing quality. In this case, we saved costs by using smaller plants that will flourish over time. These savings enabled us to invest in premium materials for the garden’s structure, delivering a high-end finish that delighted the client.

High-Quality Decking and Balustrades

The garden features premium Millboard decking, paired with an Accoya balustrade, renowned for its exceptional quality and durability. The balustrade was painted with Owatrol solid colour stain and fitted with stainless steel cables from StaLok, creating a sleek and modern aesthetic.

Natural York Stone Crazy Paving

To navigate the garden, we designed a pathway that doubles as a standout feature. We used broken pieces of York Stone to craft a unique crazy paving path. The gaps were filled with Cotswold flat shingle, which complements the natural stone beautifully.

For a finishing touch, we planted Soleirolia soleirolii along the edges of the path. Over time, this ground cover will spread, creating a seamless blend between the pathway and the planting scheme.

Custom Steel Garden Panels

To address privacy concerns due to the raised decking, we installed bespoke steel garden panels, powder-coated for durability and elegance. These panels complement the Millboard decking and Accoya balustrade perfectly, adding a contemporary flair to the garden design. Find out more about bespoke garden panels.
